Mission Accomplished!

When I read an article about Tourists from Asian countries returning to San Francisco as COVID travel restrictions loosen, it reminded me of my first trip to Hong Kong, November of 2007, at the heels of another pandemic - SARS, when I was flown from San Francisco, to interview for an opportunity of a lifetime.

It was the most casual interview I have had in my career.. speaking with the Chairman of one of the most prestigious hotel companies in Asia. Our topics ranged from my wife and children, my parents, siblings, my growing up years in the Philippines and eventual migration to the US. We laughed as we drew parallel experiences of growing up in a large family. At the end of our conversation, he asked me if I've ever been to China. I casually responded by saying "I've only been to Chinatown in New York and in San Francisco." He smiled and asked "do you think you can help me with why Chinese are the least satisfied of all guests?" I looked at him directly and responded "I am not an anthropologist Sir. All I know is that there is only one race and that is the human race... and everyone needs to be treated with care, respect and welcomed into our homes with open arms, like we would a family member."

In January of 2008, I found myself starting a new journey that will take me around the world for 10 years... and together with my team, researched, learned. observed, immersed and acted on the "Satisfiers and Dis-Satisfiers" of different nationalities --- especially our backyard market - China.

I left the company in January 2018, exactly ten years later. Before I departed, I sent an email to the Chairman to thank him once again for the opportunity. With the email was a one-page report titled, MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!

If you want to know how, allow us to help you stand out and ASTOUND!
